Mark Cetta's Ginger Ale Stew

3 to 4 Lbs beef, chicken, or pork
1 liter of Ginger Ale
1 packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1 8oz. bottle of catchup.
2 potatoes and 3 carrots, diced or sliced as you prefer
1 package of frozen peas, or a can of peas, as available.
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Brown meat in a little bit of oil in a pot big enough for the rest of the ingredients.
2. Throw in everything else but the peas, cover simmer for 2 to three hours until meat is tender
3. Throw in the peas
4. Adjust the seasonings and eat.

I tried it this weekend, and surprisingly enough, it tasted like stew! Easy as pie, in fact, a lot easier than pie.

My son suggested throwing some Jamaican jerk sauce for a bit of spice. I'm going to try that next time

Thanks Mark, My guess is that on the boat I would probably use the pressure cooker and cut the cooking time as follows

Brown the meat in the bottom of the pressure cooker using olive oil.
Remove the meat and insert the bottom plate and then add the ginger ale and the meat back in.
Cook under pressure for 20 minutes. Fast depressurize the pot outside the boat.
Add the potatoes and carrots and cook for 10 minutes turn off heat and let it slowly depressurize
Add the peas and simmer adjusting the seasonings

I agree with your son, the Jerk sauce sounds great.
